Okay, so, I’ve been seeing this PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag popping up everywhere online, especially on those fancy online stores. I got curious and dug a bit deeper. Turns out, this bag is a remake of a super popular style from way back in 1995, a real blast from the past! I saw some fashion influencers and even celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid rocking these, and I thought, “Why not try and remake one myself?”
Getting Started
First, I checked out the official PRADA online store. I wanted to get a good look at the bag, check out all the details, and see how it was put together. I needed to figure it out, so I went to the official online store, where you can buy it with free shipping nationwide, just to get more knowledge of the bag.
It’s made of this Re-Nylon stuff. I read somewhere that Italy is one of the cheapest places to get PRADA, especially at their outlet near Florence, Milan, Venice and Rome. But, I’m not in Italy, so that wasn’t much help for me. Also I had this old nylon tote, and I’ve used it for ages with my other work totes. But, they are not holding their value.
Gathering Materials
Finding the right materials was a bit of a challenge. I couldn’t find Re-Nylon anywhere locally, of course. So, I looked around in my closet and found some old nylon fabric scraps and thought, “This could work.” For the chain detail, I had an old, broken necklace that I figured I could repurpose. It wasn’t exactly the same, but it had a similar vibe.
The Process
I started by sketching out the bag’s design based on the pictures I’d seen online. I measured out the nylon fabric, it was a bit rough, but you know, we work with what we’ve got. Cutting the fabric was a bit tricky, I’m no pro with scissors, but I managed.
Next came the sewing. My sewing machine is pretty basic, not some fancy industrial thing. Sewing the pieces together took some time and a lot of patience. I messed up a few times and had to redo some seams, but hey, that’s part of the process, right?
- Sewing the body: This was the most time-consuming part. I had to make sure the seams were straight and strong.
- Adding the chain: I attached the repurposed necklace chain to the bag, mimicking the original design as best as I could.
- Finishing touches: I added a zipper I salvaged from an old jacket and lined the inside with some leftover fabric.
The Result
It took a few days, and honestly, it wasn’t perfect. It’s definitely not a perfect replica of the PRADA Re-Edition 1995, but it’s got its own charm. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but I’m pretty proud of it! I mean, I made a bag that looks somewhat like those fancy ones those celebrities are carrying around. It’s functional, it holds my stuff, and it’s got that cool, retro look. Plus, I didn’t have to spend a fortune! My own PRADA Re-Edition, kind of. And I did all of them on my own.
