Today I saw this bag on the official website of PRADA, called the Dynamique Hobo Bag. It’s not complicated, and I just wanted to try to remake it, so I just did it.
First, I went to find some leather. I had a few pieces of black leather left over from my last project, just enough for this bag. So, I took them out. And then I found some pictures of the Dynamique Hobo Bag online and tried to draw a pattern myself.
After drawing the pattern, which was quite a challenge by the way, I started to cut the leather. I cut out two large pieces for the front and back of the bag, and some smaller pieces for the sides and bottom. Then I used a hole puncher to make holes along the edges where I would sew the pieces together.
Sewing Time!
Next up, sewing! I don’t have a sewing machine, so I had to do it all by hand. It’s a bit tedious, but quite relaxing in a way. I used a thick black thread and a leather needle. I started by sewing the front and back pieces to the bottom piece, then I attached the side pieces. It was a bit like putting together a puzzle, but with needle and thread.
- First step:Cut leather.
- Second step:Sew leather together.
- Third step:Add the zipper.
The most satisfying part was when I turned the bag inside out and saw that it actually looked like a bag! I added a zipper to the top. I had an old zipper lying around from a broken jacket, so I just reused that. Sewing the zipper in was a bit tricky, but I managed it in the end.
Almost Done
Finally, I made a strap for the bag. I cut a long strip of leather and folded it in half, then sewed it together. I attached the strap to the bag with some metal rings I found in my toolbox. And there it was, my homemade Dynamique Hobo Bag!
It’s not perfect, of course. The stitches aren’t as neat as a machine’s, and the leather is a bit scuffed in places. But I’m pretty proud of it. I mean, I made a bag! From scratch! With my own two hands! It’s got that handmade charm, you know? It’s unique, and it’s mine. Thinking about it is awesome, and doing it is even more awesome. Hope you guys like it.
