Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another big purchase! Today, I’m talking about how I finally got my hands on a classic: the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the open case back. You know, the one that lets you see all the cool mechanisms inside?
First off, I started by doing tons of research online. I mean, this watch has been around since 1957, so there’s a lot of history there. I spent days just reading about all the different models and special editions.
Then I started digging into what makes these watches so collectible. Turns out, the rarer ones, especially those limited-run editions, can be a pretty good investment. They often go up in price, which is wild to think about!

Next, I had to think about how it would actually look on my wrist. I read that even though it’s a 42mm case, it wears smaller than you’d expect. It is more compact than other watches with smaller case diameters, like the 41mm Rolex Datejust. I don’t like my watches to be too massive.
Then, it was time to think about the price and whether it was worth it. People online were saying that these watches usually hold their value really well, particularly the older ones and special editions. That was a big plus for me. I always try to make smart choices with my money.
After all that research, I decided to pull the trigger and buy one. Finding a place to actually buy it was a whole other adventure. It felt like everyone was after these watches. After searching several places, I finally found one that I liked and I ordered it.
Now that I have it, I’m loving it. It’s so cool to see all the tiny parts moving around inside through the open case back. Plus, knowing it’s got such a cool history and might even go up in value makes it even better. It is definitely a smart purchase!
