Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the see-through back, for a while now. You know, the official one from the flagship store. Finally pulled the trigger and got it, and let me tell you, it was a whole process.
First off, I started digging around online, you know, just to get a feel for what I was getting into. Found out that these Speedmasters are supposed to hold their value pretty well. Especially the older ones or limited editions, they can even go up in price because they’re rare and people want ’em.
Then, I started to worry about fakes, because, well, who wants to get ripped off, right? I learned some stuff to look out for. Like, the little dials on the inside, the subdials, they should be spaced out just right. And the markings on the bezel, that’s the ring around the watch face, they should be sharp and lined up perfectly. Plus, the whole watch, the case and the bracelet, should feel solid and well-made, not cheap or flimsy.
I was also reading about how the older models, especially certain ones like the Constellation or the Seamaster, are super collectible. Makes sense, they’ve got history.
Then there was some buzz online about a new white dial Speedmaster coming out soon, but I had my heart set on the classic black one with a clear back.
Decided to Buy It
So, I finally went to the official OMEGA store. Walking in there was intimidating, I won’t lie. But the folks there were super helpful, and they let me try on the Moonwatch. Seeing it in person, holding it in my hand, it was even better than the pictures. The 3861 movement inside, that’s the guts of the watch. I guess it is some kind of new tech based on the old model? Man, it was something else.
I knew there was this whole history with the Moonwatch and space and all that, but honestly, I just liked how it looked and felt. It wasn’t too flashy, but it definitely had that “I’m a quality timepiece” vibe. It has good looking.
After Get It
I ended up buying it. It wasn’t cheap, but I figured, hey, it’s an investment, right? Plus, I just really liked it. Now that I’ve had it for a few weeks, I’m even happier with it. It’s comfortable to wear, it keeps great time, and I love being able to see the movement working through the back.
