Okay, so, I’ve been seeing these Prada nylon backpacks everywhere lately. You know the ones, right? They’re like a throwback to the 90s, and apparently, they’re super hot again. I heard that some website, maybe Lyst, called it the “bag of the year” in 2022 because everyone was searching for them online. I even heard that searches went up by, like, 131% in just one summer. Crazy, right?
Anyway, I got curious. I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I mean, it’s just a nylon backpack. But then I thought about all those famous girls like Kendall, Sofia, and Bella, they’re all carrying them. So there must be something special about this RemakePRADA Tessuto Nylon Backpack, right? Plus, the name itself, it’s like a blast from the past. Everyone who’s anyone seems to want one of these 80s throwbacks.
So, I decided to check out some stores near me. I live in Westmont, IL, and there are a bunch of places like Oakbrook Center, Nordstrom Rack, even an Aesop store, and a few others like Westbrook Center, Vintage Charm, and Yorktown Center. I figured one of them had to have something similar, if not the exact thing.
First I went to Oakbrook Center, I walked around for hours, looking at all sorts of bags, but nothing really caught my eye. It all looked kinda same-ish. So I went to the other places, but I started to feel a bit discouraged. I mean, I’m not even sure I wanted a Prada bag, I just wanted something, you know, different.
Then I remembered I had some old nylon fabric lying around. Sturdy stuff. And I thought, “Why not?” Maybe I could try making my own version of this famous backpack. I mean, how hard could it be?
My DIY Project
I got out my sewing machine, some tools, and that nylon fabric. I even found some old straps from another bag I wasn’t using. It was kinda fun, actually. Like a puzzle.
- Cut the fabric: I used some old newspapers to make a pattern, which seemed to work.
- Sew the pieces together: This was the trickiest part, had to redo the seams a couple of times.
- Add the straps and some pockets: This made it look like a real backpack!
- Make the finishing touches: I added a zipper, some metal buckles to adjust the length, and there it is.
It took me a whole weekend, but I did it. I made my own backpack. It’s not Prada, obviously. And it’s not perfect. But it’s mine. And I kinda love it. It’s got that same vibe as those fancy ones, but it’s unique. Plus, I made it myself, which is pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
So, that’s my little adventure with the RemakePRADA Tessuto Nylon Backpack. I didn’t end up buying one, but I got something even better – a bag that’s totally me. And a fun story to tell. Who knows, maybe I’ll start a new trend. A girl can dream, right?
