Okay, so I recently had this crazy idea to remake the Prada Re-Edition 2005 bag. You know, the one that’s been all over Instagram and that all the cool girls like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid are carrying? Yeah, that one. It’s a classic, and it’s been making a huge comeback.
I started by researching the bag. I found out it’s called the Re-Edition 2005 because it’s literally a remake of a style from, you guessed it, 2005. It’s a mini hobo style, which I think is super cute and practical. I also noticed that Prada has been doing a lot of these “Re-Edition” bags, bringing back older styles with a modern twist.
I did a lot of digging about the original design. I learned that it was made of nylon, which is kind of Prada’s thing, they use it a lot. This new version has some leather trim on it, which they call “saffiano” leather. It looked tough to me. Also there’s this little pouch thing that hangs off the strap, which I guess is handy for like, I don’t know, maybe your keys or some lip gloss.

- I searched some local shops where I could buy some nylon fabric and some leather scraps.

Once I had everything, I started to make the pattern pieces. This was also tricky because I wanted to get the shape just right. After a few tries, I finally had a pattern I was happy with. I cut out the fabric and leather, pinned everything together, and got to sewing. It was a lot of work, but seeing it all come together was so satisfying. I even managed to make the little detachable pouch! It wasn’t perfect, of course, but I was pretty proud of how it turned out.
Finally done
I tried carrying it around for a few days, and I have to say, I get the hype now. It’s a great everyday bag, not too big, not too small, and it goes with everything. It is not hard to understand why those celebrities love it. Plus, knowing that I made it myself makes it even more special. It’s like having my own little piece of fashion history. I might even try to remake some of the other Re-Edition bags, or even some other famous bags. We’ll see! This was a fun project, and I’m glad I decided to take it on.
