Alright, so I’ve been wanting to remake a Prada Galleria Saffiano bag for a while now, and I finally did it. This one is the large size, in white. I mean, this bag is a total classic, right? 83 pieces all together. Let me tell you, putting this thing together was a journey.
First, I had to get my hands on some Saffiano leather. That was quite an experience. I wanted to figure out what the original order felt like, and I got some that felt pretty darn close. This Saffiano stuff is the real deal, genuine leather that’s been treated and embossed. It’s tough, not like that soft, full-grain leather that gets all scratched up.
And the hardware! I found these gold-toned pieces that look just like the ones on the real bag. Detachable shoulder straps. I got the whole shebang: top handles, a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap, even that little leather keyring thingy. And you know those snap closures on the sides? Yep, got those too. Oh, and the triangle logo with the metal? Nailed it.
Putting It All Together
- Cutting out all those pieces was a lot, like, a lot a lot, of work. 83 pieces, remember? I used a template I traced to get the shapes and sizes right.
- Then came the stitching. Slow and steady, making sure everything was lined up perfectly. I used some heavy-duty thread. I wanted this bag to last.
- Attaching the hardware was tricky, but I finally got it. Those snaps are really in there, and the handles and strap feel super secure.
- The lining! I found a fabric that’s really close to the original. Sewing that in was kind of a pain, but I wanted it to look good on the inside too.
The Final Result
Honestly, I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s big enough to fit my phone and all my other junk. It really does feel like a luxury bag. This thing is definitely more durable than those lambskin bags that show every little scratch. And it’s just so classic! It’s not a one to one with the original. But you know what? It is MY version and I love it.
Cleaning this baby is gonna be easy. I’ll just wipe it down with a damp cloth. No need for anything fancy. This Saffiano leather is tough stuff.
And that’s the story of my Prada-inspired bag. It was a lot of work, but definitely worth it. Now I have a pretty great bag and didn’t pay thousands for it!
