Alright, so I’ve been eyeing this Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001 for a while now. It’s a real beauty, and I finally decided to pull the trigger and get it. Here’s how it all went down.
First off, I started doing some digging online. You know, just trying to get a feel for the price and where the best place to buy it would be. I saw a listing for around $29,802, which seemed about right based on what I’d heard. There was another used one, in pretty good shape from 2020, with the original box and papers, that caught my eye too.
I knew this model, the 7041R, was a rose gold manual wind, and apparently, it was made around 2016. It’s got this mechanical manual wind movement, Caliber 215 PS, small seconds, and 18 Jewels. Pretty fancy stuff. I also learned that this particular Gondolo has a cushion-shaped case made of 18k rose gold and it’s decked out with 108 diamonds around the dial. We’re talking 0.31 carats of bling! This is a ladies’ watch, which is what I was looking for. I’m really into those rectangular-cased watches Patek makes as part of their Gondolo collection.
The Hunt Begins
So, armed with all this info, I started hitting up some local authorized dealers. I wanted to see the watch in person, try it on, and get a feel for it. Plus, you know, there’s something about buying a luxury watch in person that just feels right. I did find one in the display case. It looked really great, but I thought I could get a better deal if I continued to shop around.
Finding the One
After a bit more searching online and making some calls, I found a pre-owned one in “very good” condition. The seller had the original box and papers, which was a big plus for me. We chatted a bit, and they seemed legit and knowledgeable. It was listed at a price that was a bit lower than the brand-new ones I’d seen, but not suspiciously low. I felt good about the situation.
Making it Mine
I decided to go for it. We arranged a meet-up so I could inspect the watch in person. Everything checked out – it was in great shape, the diamonds were sparkling, and the movement was running smoothly. After a final quick check and making sure all the paperwork was in order, I made the payment.
It’s All Mine
Now, this beauty is sitting on my wrist, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s even more stunning in person than in the pictures. And you know what? Patek Philippe watches are supposed to hold their value really well, or even go up in price. I guess there’s some truth to that whole “You never actually own a Patek Philippe” slogan they use.
