Alright, let’s talk about something I did not long ago. I got this idea to remake a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712, the classic style one. So, you know, I’ve always been into watches, and the Nautilus, man, that’s like a dream watch. It is so cool, and I tried to make a classic one.
First things first, I did some digging. I mean, you gotta know your stuff, right? I found out that the 5712 was launched way back in 2006. Time flies. And people say it has a sporty style. And I learned that the blue dial is quite special, it reflects the light differently, and also the moon phase and power reserve indicator looks so classic. The steel band is awesome.
Then, the fun part began. I started gathering all the parts I needed. This wasn’t easy, let me tell you. I spent a lot of time searching, and found many different parts from many different guys. Finally I collected enough parts to start my work.
Putting it all together was like a puzzle, a really complicated one. It took me a good chunk of time, and there were moments when I thought, “What am I doing?” But I pushed through, kept my eye on the prize.
I spent days to assemble all the parts together. I started with the dial and the case, and then added the band. I added the movement and the pointers. I met lots of problems during my assembling, but I tried to fix it. I spent much time on it, and I am so happy to see that I finally finished my work.
Finally, after all that effort, I had my own remade 5712. Man, it felt good. It wasn’t perfect, sure, but it was mine. And it looked pretty darn close to the real deal, if I do say so myself.
I gotta say, this whole experience was a blast. I learned a ton, not just about watches, but about patience, persistence, and the joy of creating something with your own two hands. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. Maybe next time, I’ll tackle an even crazier model.
This remade Nautilus 5712 was a satisfying result. I felt so proud of myself and I wore it everyday. It reminds me that anything is possible, at least it was possible at that time.
