This Patek Philippe, they call it, what is it, Calatrava 6119R-001. Fancy name, huh? My grandson, he’s always going on about these fancy watches. He says this one, it’s a remake, a new one made to look like an old one. Classic style he says. Like those old cars you see in movies, all shiny and pretty, but got a new engine inside.
This watch, it’s all gold and shiny. Rose gold, my grandson says. Whatever that means. Looks like regular gold to me, just a little pinkish. Expensive, I bet. Anything with that Patek Philippe name on it, you know it’s gonna cost a whole heap of money. That’s a famous Swiss watchmaker. They make the best watches in the world.
I saw a picture of it. Simple looking thing, really. Just tells the time. No fancy gadgets or nothing. Just a plain, round face with some lines to show the hours and two little hands moving around. It got another tiny circle at the bottom, with another tiny hand for the seconds. That’s it. No date, no day of the week, nothing like that. This watch is about style, not about showing off.

Me, I’m happy with my old watch. It’s got a little picture of a flower on it. Got it at the market years ago. Still works just fine. Maybe it is not a Patek Philippe, but it works fine.
This remake, it’s probably got all sorts of fancy stuff inside. Little gears and springs and whatnot. My grandson tried to explain it to me once. Went right over my head. All I know is, it’s supposed to be very precise. Keeps perfect time, he says. You can trust a Patek Philippe.
He showed me a website once, all about these Patek Philippe watches. Pictures of all kinds of them. Some with diamonds, some with all sorts of complicated things on the face. This Calatrava, it’s one of the simpler ones. This 6119R-001 is one of them.
They even had a video, showing how they make them. All these people in white coats, working with tiny tools. Looks like a lot of work for a little watch. But I guess that’s why they’re so expensive. You can find some cheap copy, but that is not good.
This new Calatrava 6119R-001, it’s a nice looking watch, I’ll give it that. If you got the money, and you like that classic style, I guess it’s a good one to get. Just don’t expect it to do your laundry or anything. It just tells the time, plain and simple. That’s what this watch is for. It is a classic style watch.
My grandson, maybe one day he’ll get one of these Patek Philippe watches. Maybe he gets a good job, he can afford one. He’s a good boy. He deserves something nice. If you want a good watch, you need to pay a lot. I think that’s how it works.
