Alright, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5722 for a while now. You know, the one with all the bling. But let’s be real, the price tag on those things is insane. So, I thought, why not try to remake one myself? Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy, but I was up for the challenge.

First things first, I needed to find a base watch. Something that had a similar shape and feel to the Nautilus. After looking around, I stumbled upon a pretty decent homage watch online. It wasn’t perfect, but it had the right vibe, and the price was way more reasonable than a real Patek. I ordered it, and it arrived a few days later.

The Fun Begins

  • Getting the gems. This was the tricky part. I wanted this thing to sparkle, so I needed a ton of cubic zirconia. I ended up ordering a bunch of different sizes and shapes from a few different online stores. It was a bit of a guessing game, but I figured I could always return what I didn’t need.
  • Prepping the watch. Once I had all my materials, it was time to start taking things apart. The first step was removing the bezel from the watch. This was a bit nerve-wracking, but I managed to pop it off without damaging anything. I was careful.
  • Setting the stones. This is where things got real tedious. I used a tiny bit of glue to stick each individual cubic zirconia onto the bezel. I’m not gonna lie, it took forever. I had to take breaks every few minutes just to give my eyes a rest. I worked on this thing for hours every day, little by little.

After what felt like an eternity, I finally finished setting all the stones. It was a lot of work, but let me tell you, the end result was pretty impressive. It wasn’t a real Patek Philippe, of course, but it definitely had that luxurious, eye-catching look. It really blinged out! I took a long time to assemble all the parts of the watch. Man, I was excited, to see how it worked.

I wore it out a few times, and I got a ton of compliments. People were always asking me about it. Of course, I was honest with them and told them it wasn’t a real Patek, but they were still impressed. It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot about watches in the process. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was definitely a lot of work, but it was also pretty rewarding to see the finished product. It’s a good story, right?
